JetBlue hubs and focus cities

Initially, JetBlue was in some ways the East Coast equivalent of Alaska, particularly in Boston and John F. Kennedy International.

They have expanded west and internationally over the past two decades.

Current hubs include:

  1. Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)

  2. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)

  3. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

  4. New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)

  5. Orlando International Airport (MCO)

  6. San Juan Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU)

JetBlue flight cancelation/delay compensation

JetBlue offers the following compensation amounts for delays of various times:

  • 4-5 hours: $75 credit (all per passenger)

  • 5-6 hours: $100 credit

  • 6-12 hours: $150 credit

  • 12+ hours: $200 credit

Of course, given your traveling circumstances, you can accept this credit and file a complaint fo additional compensation.

JetBlue also offers compensation for ground delays that occur, even after boarding:

  • 3-5 hours: $100 credit

  • 5-6 hours: $175 credit

  • 6+ hours: $250 credit

For overnight delays, they provide hotel accommodations and transportation.

In the event of a canceled flight, JetBlue rebooks passengers on the next available flight at no additional cost or offers a full refund. JetBlue also provides compensation for involuntary denied boarding, with the amount depending on the length of the delay caused by the denied boarding.

JetBlue Airways refund policy

JetBlue's refund policy, options, and flexibility have become more rigid over the last half decade or so, a real bummer.  In essence, JetBlue refundable tickets can be fully refunded at any time, while non-refundable tickets may only be canceled within 24 hours of booking for a full refund.

However, flight credits are available  for non-refundable tickets if canceled before departure.

In terms of ticket tiers:

  • Blue Basic: Non-refundable, eligible for flight credits.

  • Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra: Non-refundable, eligible for flight credits.

  • Mint: Refundable and non-refundable options. Refundable tickets can be fully refunded at any time.

Also, consider this snippet, directly from the JetBlue site.  "There are no change or cancellation fees on our Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra and Mint fares. Fare difference applies. Blue Basic fares cannot be changed but can be cancelled for a fee, then rebooked at the new fare."

This fee is $100 for flights in North America.
