Spirit compensation for flight cancelations/delays
Spirit Airlines, known for its low-cost fares, has a compensation policy that reflects its no-frills approach.
Under Spirit's policy, delays and cancelations will be accomodated by rebooking passengers on the next available flight at no charge to you.
Unlike most all other domestic airlines, Spirit does not routinely offer meal vouchers or hotel accomodations unless required to do so by law (meal vouchers become required at 3 hours of delay).
Passengers can also opt for a refund or travel credit for the unused portion of their ticket. These guidelines apply to those that are denied boarding as well.

How to get compensation from Spirit Airlines
If you've had a Spirit flight delay, cancelation, or other poor experience, follow these steps to maximize your chances of earning compensation for your aggravation.
1. Document everything
Keep your boarding pass, flight details, and any receipts for expenses incurred as a result of Spirit's delay, cancelation, lost baggage, etc.
If you feel a situation deteriorating in live time, start taking notes with employee names, time(s) of interactions, and other helpful details that may bolster your case/complaint.
2. Know your passenger rights
Spirit is known for its budget services and may not offer as comprehensive compensation as other airlines, but they still have obligations. Check their Contract of Carriage for guidelines relating to delays, cancelations, or lost/damaged bags.
These guidelines must comply with US DOT guidelines, and if these rights are broken at any point, you have a right to compensation.
3. Contact Spirit Airlines
You'll next need to reach out to Spirit Airlines directly to have your grievance resolved. Typically, airport employees are not the people with permission to offer competitive compensation, unless you're bumped from a flight.
This leaves you with a few main options:
Use Spirit's online customer servuce form
Call the customer service hotline
Have us act on your behalf
You may need to continue to escalate the issue if your concerns go unaddressed. The DOT can help with us, as can we.
